Fundamental Analyst
Job Summary:
Seeking petroleum analyst to provide information regarding energy Domestic & International energy supply/demand balances, cost drivers, supplier and end user characteristics, transportation economics, fundamental relationships between energy markets (natural gas, oil and petroleum products) and factors which influence market prices against the backdrop of short and long fundamentals.
Typical Duties:
- Assess Supply and Demand Fundamentals of the Petroleum and Refining Markets
- Identify, develop and/or maintain energy market intelligence databases and market analysis applications
- Develop and maintain key input assumptions for regional and worldwide energy models
- Prepare energy price estimates, forecasts, and trends based on market research. Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on large amounts of data
- Create Analysis Tools to assist trading activities
- Perform systematic and effective communication across organization to help consolidate valuable proprietary information
- Interface with third party analysis
- Gather and analyze pertinent information through data mining, financial reports, and corporate calls
Qualifications
- Four-year Degree in Quantitative Field such as Engineering, Economics, or related field
- Masters Degree or CFA a plus
- Oil Refinery Expertise a plus
- 3-5 years experience in fundamental analysis, research experience, or equivalent in energy markets
- Understanding of time spreads and inter-market spreads
- Ability to utilize industry contacts
- Advanced quantitative skills in business analysis, statistical methods, decision analysis, numerical methods, and database management required
- Excellent computer skills with an emphasis on advanced spreadsheets and relational databases
- Equities or Currency experience a plus
